Gauge refers to the thickness of the part of the jewellery that passes through your piercing. With gauge sizing, the higher the gauge number, the thinner the jewellery.
The common sizes you'll see across our piercing jewellery are:
- 16G = 1.2mm
- 18G = 1.0mm
- 20G = 0.8mm
The right gauge depends on your piercing, how it was originally pierced and the jewellery you're currently wearing. Different piercing placements can also be suitable for different gauges, so the placement alone doesn't always determine which size you need.
If you're replacing existing jewellery, we recommend checking its gauge before ordering. If you're unsure, a professional piercer can measure your existing jewellery or piercing and advise you on the appropriate size.
